As much as I enjoy the look and feel of the Fox shocks that came with the Mopar 2" lift kit, their failure rate just doesn't justify the cost or the frustration of replacement and I've finally swapped them out with tried-and-true Bilstein 5100's.

My original set that came out of the crate had a leaky front shock that I had to fight with the dealership to replace. After several weeks, they finally broke open another crate and gave me a new one. For the next 80,000 miles, they performed flawlessly without any trouble. As they grew more and more tired, I decided to replace them while the planets were aligned and Stellantis actually had a supply available. Right of the box, my new set had a dead rear shock with no pressure whatsoever. I surprisingly got it replaced without any grief, but not a month went by before one of the rears started leaking.

When I went back to the dealership, they were on back order again and a replacement wasn't available. They told me to reach out to Fox directly, to which they demanded the refurbishment charge to fix it despite the fact they were still well under warranty. By the time they became available again, the dealership wouldn't honor the warranty either, and the price of a single rear shock was near $400.

So, after two sets of leaky Fox shocks and dealing with companies that don't want to stand behind a product, I'm out. I decided to buy a full set of Bilsteins for the same price as the aforementioned rear Fox shock. They feel good, ride well, don't leak, and if I have a problem with them, they're in stock everywhere. If, for some reason, I can't get any kind of warranty honored on them, I can at least replace one for brand new at less cost than a refurbishment.
